Visual Arts Centre for Sustainable Curating

The Centre for Sustainable Curating supports research, exhibitions, visual/digital production, and pedagogy focused on environmental and social justice. Located in the Department of Visual Arts at Western, the CSC encourages research into waste, pollution, and climate crisis, and the development of exhibitions and artworks with low carbon footprints.

The CSC's Using the Resources at Hand Guide is designed to help Visual Arts students consider eco-friendly options in designing exhibitions. The guide offers tips on low-carbon design, outlines resources in the community, and includes information on borrowing and sharing resources and materials to encourage waste reduction and promote re-using within the department.

The Resource Guide is also open-source and can be adapted and used by anyone to share information about ecologically-friendly forms of exhibition design.
