Action Plan CoverWestern’s Climate and Sustainability Action Plan translates the University’s Climate and Sustainability Strategy and its ten Big Moves into 26 clear actions that will guide progress from 2026 to 2031. Building on the vision set out in Towards Western at 150, the Action Plan focuses on turning commitment into coordinated, measurable action across education and research, campus operations, and community engagement.

This plan outlines short‑term actions over the next one to two years designed to build early momentum, alongside medium‑term actions over three to five years that advance deeper, sustained progress. Together, these actions align institutional priorities that play a role in advancing climate action and planetary health.

Sustainability at Western is a shared responsibility. Meaningful progress depends on collaboration across departments, units, and faculties, with students, faculty, and staff all playing a role in advancing action and impact. Consistent communication and engagement will build awareness and participation across the community, while a unified approach to tracking and reporting progress will ensure accountability and alignment.

Together, these elements move Western from commitment to coordinated action toward a more sustainable, resilient, and regenerative future.
