Waste Management Operations

The waste and recycling generated on Western's campus is locally managed with none of our volumes going beyond a 5km radius of the City of London. This reinforces the principle of individual ownership of and responsibility for waste management within our own communities.
Western’s Containers recycling stream is taken to the London Material Recovery Facility, operated by Miller Waste.
Western’s Paper recycling stream is taken to the Waste Collections Canada’s (WCC) London recycling facility.
Western’s Organic stream is taken to the Convertus London facility to be processed. At Convertus, multiple techniques are used when converting organic material into Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) as well as fertilizers and compost that is re-used in the Agricultural sector. To learn more about Convertus, visit their website.
Western’s Landfill waste stream is taken to the City of London’s W12A Landfill. To learn more about this facility, visit the City of London website.
