Sustainable Food

Hospitality Services is committed to creating, producing and improving the sustainability culture within the Western community. This division at Western has championed a number of sustainability initiatives and programs to enhance a sustainable food system on campus. For example, Western was Canada's 11th university to be recognized as a Fair Trade Campus in 2016. Additionally, Great Hall Catering maintains honeybee hives on campus, from which honey is used in various recipes, made available for tea and coffee, and also bottled for sale.

Hospitality Services continues to engage with stakeholders, improve waste reduction and diversion, source responsibly and encourage healthy eating at Western.

For more information about sustainability initiatives and programs to do with food on campus, check out the sustainability section on Hospitality Services' website which includes a Sustainability Report and Action Plan.
