Understanding Your Food System
As part of this year's International Week, Western's Sustainability team is proud to present a day dedicated to food sustainability! Understanding Your Food System is an event for Western staff, students, faculty and the community. From farm to compost, learn about where our food comes from, the importance of knowing our food system, the benefits of eating healthy, and what is done with our organic waste and food scraps.

Panelists include:
Bryan Gilvesy- YU Ranch- representing the farming perspective, ecosystem health, options/decisions farmers are faced with
Andrew Fleet- Growing Chefs! representing the food preparation and importance of education/food literacy
Dr. June Matthews- representing the nutritional aspect of consumption and healthy choices
Pearce Fallis- representative from Harvest Power, discussing the importance of food waste from an operational and renewable standpoint
Attendees can also participate in an interactive cooking session offered by the FRESH team. Learn how to cook with in-season, local foods and herbs and sample the food too!
