Biodegradable Sunblock
We
know that it is important to protect ourselves for the sun’s harmful rays but
many chemicals in sunscreens can be harmful to coral and marine life. Each year
swimmers add roughly 9 million pounds of sunscreen and tanning products to our
oceans. Ingredients in sunscreens like parabens, cinnamate, benzophenone, and
camphor derivatives can cause dormant viruses in coral reef algae to bloom,
which can kill the coral. So choose biodegradable sunblocks that contain
titanium dioxide or zinc oxide ingredients, which are safer choices.
